Infant Baptism in Our Parish

Dear Parents,

No doubt the birth of your child is the most memorable day in a parent’s life. In your arms you hold love itself. And it is only natural that you want only the best for your child.

You are now asking to have your child baptized. This is the most precious gift the Church can bestow on your child. Through water and the Holy Spirit we are born again and become children of God. We are claimed by Jesus Christ and have new life within us. Our baptism makes us brothers and sisters because we share the same life, which comes from God.

So you are asking for the gift of life for your child. This is an incredible gift that God offers us. But with it comes responsibilities. You accept the responsibility of raising your child in the faith. This is not just teaching something out of a book, but taking on the responsibility of living the faith and teaching your child through example. By loving God and your neighbor, your child learns to do the same.

This booklet outlines everything you will need to do to prepare your child for the celebration of Baptism. We have tried to make things straight forward and understandable. If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact the parish office.

Please accept the heartiest congratulations from all the members of St. Albert the Great Newman Community. We rejoice with you at this happy time and it is our wish that your child may always grow joyfully in the ways of our God.

In Christ,
Mitchell G. Dowalgo, C.S.B.
Pastor
